Manufacturer's warranty

Apple's Limited Warranty for One Year

With this warranty certificate, Apple confirms that it undertakes to satisfy customer claims covered by consumer protection laws or regulations concerning hardware defects due to materials and workmanship. The warranty terms comply with the laws of the country where the product purchase took place and are interpreted accordingly.

Apple's Warranty Obligations

Apple, as defined below, provides a warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use to this Apple-branded hardware product for a period of one (1) year from the retail purchase by the original end-user purchaser (“Warranty Period”). If a hardware defect arises and a valid claim is received within the Warranty Period, Apple may, at its option and to the extent permitted by law:
repair the hardware defect at no charge, using new or refurbished replacement parts;
exchange the product for a new product that is new or manufactured from new or serviceable used parts and is functionally at least equivalent to the original product;
refund the purchase price of the product.

Apple may require you to replace defective parts with new or refurbished user-installable parts that Apple provides as part of its warranty obligation. A replacement product or part, including a user-installable part that has been installed per Apple's instructions, is covered by the remaining warranty of the original product or for ninety (90) days from the date of replacement or repair, whichever provides longer coverage. When a product or part is exchanged, any replacement item becomes your property and the replaced item becomes Apple's property. Parts provided by Apple in fulfilling its warranty obligation must be used in products for which warranty service is claimed. If a refund is given, the product for which a refund is provided must be returned to Apple, and it becomes Apple's property.

Terms and Conditions of Warranty Service

Before seeking warranty service, please review the online help resources referred to in the product documentation provided at the time of purchase.
If, after using these resources, your product is still not functioning correctly and you purchased the product in Estonia, Latvia, or Lithuania, contact the store representative from where you purchased the product or Apple Authorized Service Providers (AASP) – contact details can be found in this warranty certificate or on our website. If you contact Apple by phone, you may incur additional charges depending on your location. When calling, an Apple representative or AASP will help determine whether your product requires service and, if it does, inform you how Apple will provide it. You must assist with fault diagnosis efforts on your product and follow Apple's warranty procedures.
If seeking assistance in Estonia, Latvia, or Lithuania, Apple provides warranty service at AASP locations only if, during the warranty period, 1) the warranty certificate and/or original invoice or other proof of purchase with purchase date, invoice or receipt number, product price, reseller information, and product serial number are presented with the defective Apple product. 2) Registration information as can be provided by you. By acquiring this certificate and/or invoice or other proof of purchase, you acknowledge that you have read all information contained within this warranty certificate.
If a defect is found in Apple Ipod/Isight products and a justified claim is made after one hundred eighty (180) days since purchase, upon repair or replacement by Apple, additional transport and/or handling costs may apply.
Service options, parts availability, and response times may vary depending on the country where service is requested. Service options are subject to change at all times. If a product cannot be serviced in the country where service is requested, you may be responsible for shipping and handling charges. If you want service in a country that is not the purchasing country, you must comply with all applicable export laws and regulations and pay all customs duties, VAT, and other related fees. For international service, Apple may repair or exchange defective products and parts with equivalent products and parts that comply with local standards. To the extent permitted by law, Apple may require you to provide proof of purchase details and/or comply with registration requirements before receiving warranty service. Please refer to the included documentation for more details on obtaining warranty service or for other questions related to this topic.
Apple will maintain and use customer information according to Apple's Customer Privacy Policy, which can be accessed at www.apple.com/legal/privacy.
If your product can store software programs, data, or other information, you should make periodic backup copies of the information contained on the product's hard drive or other storage media to protect the contents and as a precaution against possible operational failures. Before delivering your product for warranty service, it is your responsibility to maintain a separate backup copy of the contents and to disable all security passwords. It is possible that during the warranty service, the contents of your hard drive will be lost or reformatted, and Apple and its agents are not responsible for loss, recovery, or compromise of programs, data, or other information on the storage media or any part of the serviced product. Your product will be returned to you configured as it was originally purchased, subject to applicable updates. You are responsible for reinstalling all other software programs, data, and passwords. Recovery and reinstallation of software programs, user data, and passwords are not covered under this limited warranty.

The limited warranty does not apply to any non-Apple hardware products or software, even if packaged or sold with Apple hardware. Manufacturers, suppliers, or publishers other than Apple may provide their warranties to the end user purchaser, but Apple, to the extent permitted by law, provides their products “as is.” Software distributed by Apple with or without the Apple brand (including, but not limited to, system software) is not covered by this limited warranty. Refer to the license agreement accompanying the software for details regarding your rights regarding its use.

  • if any Apple serial number has been removed or defaced.

To the extent permitted by law, this warranty and the remedies set forth above are exclusive and in lieu of all other warranties, remedies, and conditions, whether oral or written, statutory, expressed, or implied. To the extent permitted by applicable law, Apple specifically disclaims any and all statutory or implied warranties, including, without limitation, warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and warranties against hidden or latent defects. If Apple cannot lawfully disclaim statutory or implied warranties, then to the extent permitted by law, all such warranties shall be limited in duration to the duration of this express warranty and the repair or replacement service determined by Apple in its sole discretion. No Apple reseller, agent, or employee is authorized to make any modification, extension, or addition to this warranty. If any term is held to be illegal or unenforceable, the legality or enforceability of the remaining terms shall not be affected or impaired thereby.
Except as provided in this warranty and to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple is not responsible for direct, special, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from any breach of warranty or condition or under any other legal theory, including but not limited to loss of use; loss of revenue; loss of actual or anticipated profits (including loss of profits on contracts); loss of the use of money; loss of anticipated savings; loss of business; loss of opportunity; loss of goodwill; loss of reputation; loss of, damage to, or corruption of data; or any indirect or consequential loss or damage howsoever caused including the replacement of equipment and property, any costs of recovering, programming, or reproducing any program or data stored in or used with the Apple product and any failure to maintain the confidentiality of data stored on the product.
